Child car seats

We are looking to buy a car (not necessarily a MPV) that is wide enough to fit 3 child car seats across the back so that us parents in the front can reach the kids. We think having our oldest child (just turned 3 years old) on the back row of a 7 seater would be too far away. Any advice gratefully received!

I can fit two car seats and a booster in the back of my Mazda6, also try new Mondeo as well (the two cars share a chassis so should be fairly similar).

Pleae don't buy a soft-roader or chelsea tractor though. I'm begging you from the bottom of my heart.

There's already enough of those things on the road as it is.
