I would at least enquire with a Ford garage and ask them if they know off hand what it could be. It is worth having it seen to straight away though because usually when there is any form of fault on SRS or ABS it disables the whole system.
Mine is a P Reg Escort and had a similar query - Dont know if this would help, but by the door side of your seat (Drivers and/or passenger) there is a socket similar to a phone (not a very good description but when you see it youll know what I mean) - undo and reconnect this and it may go away - mine was just a slightly loose conection and hasnt flashed since.
If you have tried the 2 connectors (1 under each seat)
And that did not cure it (it also did not for me)
So I tried swapping the 2 pretensioner units
This also made no difference
So I decided to find the controller unit so I could see if its connector was ok
But sadly its not shown were it fitted in the workshop repair book
So I went to the local scrappy and followed the looms
Found one with the seats removed this helped
Removed the carpet
The loom starts at the passenger seat (UK cars) goes over to the drivers seat (under the centre console) and joins the loom from the drivers seat
Then as a pair the run down the side of the sill towards the front of the car behind the kick panel (next to accelerator pedal) and up behind the dash
But heres the tip behind the kick panel is another plug and socket
Try cleaning that one it has now cured my flashing light
All the best
