CAR MOT
22 Answers
My Car, which is a FORD FIESTA ENCORE 5 DOOR MODEL is due an MOT very soon. My car has two faults which will fail the Mot. The back windscreen wiper does not work due to the motor not working in it. Also the boot has decided not to open anymore. That might just be a problem WD40 can fix if I crawl inside the boot.
So with these 2 problems does anybody know what it is likely to cost if I were to take it in with these faults.? I dont think I'll have enough time to mend them before the MOT.
Also, I plan to take it to KWIKFIT as you can get the MOT for £40 if you book online.
I know its difficult to say without looking at it but if anyone knows roughly the all in cost of what it would be to take it to Kwikfit with these faults?. Everything else should be fine.
Thanks

It only has to be legal when attached to the axle and used. Otherwise you could not legally drive away when you had changed a damaged tyre.
The spare is not looked at in the MOT test either.

Eddie and Andyvon are correct. The rear windscreen wiper is not part of the MOT. The rear wiper on my car hasn't worked for years - but it has never failed the MOT on it.
Good advice about avoiding Kwikfit as well. In my experience they are rip-off merchants who "find" problems that don't exist. They tried to tell me that my car needed the rear shocks replacing - which was a laugh because I knew for a fact they'd been changed a couple of years before (and shock absorbers don't wear out after 10 or 15,000 miles - even I know that )
