Winter Roads Uk
I wonder why the Ice Road Truckers (Channel 5) can go up and down icy ungritted hilly roads in fully loaded artics, often without tyre chains, with no problems at all, yet an inch of snow over here brings all traffic to a halt!

Because there are naff all cars getting in their way! If you can keep the truck rolling, its not a problem, but there is so much traffic over here and (in the main) car drivers are so ignorant of what truck drivers are trying to do (keep rolling), that they just 'pull in front', block junctions etc. Not a dig at car drivers, just the amount of traffic on the roads. If you drive at night, there are usually no problems as most people are at home. Other thing is, on the Ice Road there is a big maintenance team keeping the road up to spec, whereas all our gritters etc get caught up in aforementioned traffic and abandoned vehicles. Roads run so much better with no traffic on them!
