trudging over 3 miles to get cheaper petrol.. (by cheaper I mean £1.30 rather than £1.33 down the road) bearing in mind the tank is already glowing orange... or should I just suck it up...?

As you come back into the town, the garage is on the right, on the other side of the roundabout, between the northbound and westbound roads (if you see what I mean). It would be hard to see the signs on the way home, inless you do a lap of the roundabout ...
(which you only do if you're throwing carrots on to the roundabout).
And I might get the train.

Eh? why would you do that?
You're right though, it would be hard to see on the way back...

(the google earth image must be old.... 95.9p a litre!)

I didn't know "rabbit roundabout" was even an official name.
We call it that because, for some odd reason, loads of wild rabbits have made their home there. At dusk on a warm evening, it swarms with bunnies.
They live on the roundabout (presumably in burrows under the bushes).
So ... people passing in their cars throw carrots on the roundabout.
The population of Brighton is quite sane ... really.

Depends on how many miles "glowing orange" indicates. You could get a bit locally and then make the drive.
3 miles = 6 miles round trip unless on route to somewhere anyway. Assume 30 miles pr gallon or 6.6 miles to the litre ?
1.3 / 6.6 = 20p per mile = £1.20 for the trip.
So how large is your tank ? Say 40 litres ? 40* 3p = £1.20 saving
Hardly looks worth your time to me. Not for a special trip anyway.
Sums not guarantied. Couldn't be bothered to check it before posting.
