yup-suck it up !
peugeot 207 fuel tank size : 50 litres

So you'll save £1.50 by driving to the cheaper garage.

Assuming fuel consumption of 30MPG it will cost you about 58pence to drive the 3 miles.
Though if your petrol tank is glowing orange I'd be tempted to step away from the car (a long way away, quickly!)

Bear - Not helpful.. Chuckie.. helpful (although shocked you recalled what car I have.. I can barely remember myself!!).. Asda here I come...!!
lol @ chuck
£1.30/litre = £5.90/gallon

Assuming 30mpg, 3 + 3 miles = 6 miles = 1/5 of a gallon

= £5.90 / 5 = £1.18

So if the round trip of 6 miles costs £1.18, and you save 3p / litre

... it is worth driving the extra distance if you put in 118 / 3 = 39 litres.

39 x £1.30 = £50.70

This does not allow for wear and tear on the car.

But your "break even" point, where you cover the extra travel cost, is about £50.

So ...

If you are putting MORE THAN £50 in the car ... go to the CHEAPER station.

If you are putting LESS THAN £50 in the car ... go to the CLOSER station.

JJ - Typically put £60+ to fill the old filly up... and will be doing so again next week as off to Glorious Sussex for Easter to see Dad.. not that he knows who I am any longer...!!
You mean she'll want to come back home from the garage too....

Oh :)
Glorious "Sussex By The Sea" ... as the song goes.

=0)

Chuck ... If hippy goes all that way (3 miles!) to buy their petrol, maybe the garage should give her a tow home to save fuel !
Chuck ...

Your calculation was 58p for 3 miles ... mine was £1.18 for 6 miles ...

... so we were only 2p apart for the round trip.

(which was presumably because we rounded off our calculations differently).

a suspended tow to save wear and tear.. :)

Do you ablue with it though?
A nice little surreal addition to the thread from jonne, LOL

Not Worthing, Jonne.. Horsham...
cazzzz is right, actually ...

A normal tow would put 3 miles of wear on hippy's tyres, etc.

They'd have to pop her car on a trailer, or something.

What a nice garage. I wonder if they do free massages too?
Horsham?

I don't often venture that far north.

(although I am going to Smelly London again at lunch time)
hippy ...

While you're down here, pop down to Brighton and fill up at the BP station at the rabbit roundabout, just as you come into the down, before the park.

Then you can let me know how much I pay. I'm so used to filling up there as I go past, I never notice what they charge. I might be getting a bum deal.

Might nip down to Brighton JJ.. Last time I was there it was, ironically, for a sand sculpture display.. for a beach made out of pebbles, quite an achievement...!!!
