Been legally registered off road for a couple of years, no tax, no MoT, no insurance as yet.    How do I get it to and from the MoT station?

not sure about insurance ,may have to get cover note, but u r allowed to take car directly to nearest mot station and back for testing (friend of mine built an A C cobra so he was in the same position as you and that what he did)
You can legally drive it provided you have previously booked it into a Test station. You have to go directly there but you must have insurance. If it fails you have to take it straight home but if the car is unroadworthy the Police can prosecute you.
Just a thought but doesn't not having an MOT invalidate your insurance. Might be worth checking with your insurance provider as to what they will allow.
I work for a recovery company which also does MOT's.  Why don't you ask a similar company  to collect and test it for you - it might be cheaper than getting temp insurance.
