my renault megane 1.4 dynamique 03 reg has a light on dash saying service light and airbag
what does this mean as ive only had this car 3 weeks and the handbook is missing
You have a fault with the airbag system, check the airbag connections under the front seats, make sure they are connected Ok.
The service light will always come on if any faults occur, it does not mean your car needs a service except for having the airbag repared, the Drivers Handbook would not be any help, except to say take it to your renault dealer.
No .. Ask here and WAIT first.
I run a Megane coupe as a runabout/work car .. and I know quite a bit about the electronics.
Firstly, I hope you have a spare key .. THE spare key!
Second ... The Service light comes on BECAUSE of the Airbag light.
As mentioned .. the Pre-tensioner cable may have been ripped or damaged by action of tilt-slide seat .. maybe passenger side (if it has been used frequently for rear passengers) Check out the cables FIRST before going anywhere near Renault garage.
When repaired, you will probably have top complete a number of 'driving cycles' before the light goes out and stays out!
Al.
We had a Renualt Laguna blondie!..........it was a nightmare, lights would come on, service, tyre pressure, you name it, they wouldn't go off and stay off, Oh and the key cards, cost a fortune to replace and kept breaking!............The Laguna's gone now!..............so pleased!........will never own another Renualt in my life!.........
lol Welsh : )
Key cards gone a while now.
Other things were usually dodgy sensors.
Meganes are quite different.
They have their moments tho.
ABS lights and no speedo are common, as are no radio panel display.
