For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If by ‘serviced every year’ – the seller has told you that he/she had it serviced every year, then you have no proof that anything has ever been done to the vehicle. But if you have a stamped service history from a Ford main dealer (with the mileage), then it is very likely at the required mileage/time interval that the cambelt was changed. Of course, it could be that the mileage/time interval for replacement has not been reached for your car.
I had exactly the same issue a week or so ago with my new change of car.
(it's a Ford Puma - based on mk 4 Fiesta incidentally).
What I did was find out when the cambelt should be changed (80,000 miles) then I found the phone number of the garage where the MOT was done around that milage from the MOT certificate of the previous owner, gave them a call and they confirmed that it had been done.
IMO if your car has a FSH then it probably has been done.
