and if it's to do with the EU, why are cars still made quoting MPG? Shouldn't it be MPL?

but ab, why does my german car have it's consumption in miles, and if they are doing it espcially for cars bound for the UK, why can't they do miles per litre?
I get 100miles per £20, this mpg/litre thing is a pain in the backside !
Will you still get that figure when fuel is £1.50 per litre?
I grew up during conversion to metric in Australia in the 1970s and I am comfortable with both systems and the conversions. For me 1.0936 yards or 39.37 inches in a metre is as natural as three feet in a yard. Or 2.205 pounds in a kilogram, 4.54 litres in an Imperial Gallon.

And I really don't care whether minus 40 degrees is in Celcius or Farenheit.

I remember visiting Peru in the 1990s where they measured distance in kilometres and fuel in US gallons. They had km/USgallon.
so how are you poor helpless oldies coping with this decimal currency, then? Still grumbling at having to convert shillings into pence? Or is it the case that you can actually do it if you try?
Can we have crowns and guineas back then? Please.
Why can't we use both?
Lots of people speak 2 or more languages..Should be allowed to use whatever system you feel comfortable with....I'm 5'11" ,13 stone and live 11 miles from Birmingham...So there :-P
"Can we have crowns and guineas back then? Please"

Crowns never went away, although new issues since 1990 are redenominated as £5 instead of 25p (5/-).
