What's the worst car you've ever owned in regards to reliability and annoyance? I've owned some bangers in my time (i've never seen the point in spending more than a couple of grand on a car, mostly a lot less), but none come close to the Renault Laguna I have now. It has an amazing ability in that as soon as i fix one problem another appears.
MrIncredible. I had to choose between the orange Austin Allegro or the Mini Metro as being the worse car. The Allegro came a first close second!!
We have the same bad taste!!
Lofty I had 2nd hand metro. I did over 100,000 mile in it and it only broke down twice, once when the suspension leaked an once when the battery exploded. When I part exchanged it, it still had the original exhaust system.
Reading this I realise I must be lucky with cars, apart from an MGB I've always had Fords right through the 60's and 70's, when they were known as Dagenham Dust Bins, to the present day and I can honestly say that though some have been better then others there's not been a really bad one among the lot of them.
jomifl The gear box fell out the bottom of my metro whilst I was changing gear, with me hanging on to the gearstick. It was a bit puzzling at the time!!!
Mercedes 500 SUV - came within one of being sent back as a lemon in the US (your right in many States is to return the car at 20 strike-outs for a brand new replacement - wish we had it here). Great car as to engine and turning - the engine was made in Germany but the accessories were fitted in Birmingham AL and it showed.
I had all sorts of issues, brake struts, lights, aircon, windows sticking, fuel pumps, fuse problems,....
Vectra VXR. Most unreliable heap of horse manure that ever graced my drive. Spent 21 grand on it, had less hassle with the Viva I passed my test in years ago that cost me 50 quid. I'm sticking to old shaggers from now on. at least if they break because of something expensive I can throw the whole car away and get a fresh one. A bulb blew in the Vectra and because some eejit had made a mess of changing it a few years ago it broke the headlight, the dealer wanted £400 to fit a new one. I fixed it myself with sellotape and blu-tak and swearing.
We once had a pale blue second or third hand Automatic Corsair in the early 70's I think, the b;**dy think conked out on us coming home from Blackpool with two maiden aunts and their luggage in the back. I don't remember how we got home.
