I recently bought a second-hand Nissan Primera GX Automatic. There was no owner's handbook, and there's a switch that's puzzling me. It's located near the handbrake and there are 3 positions: S, A/T and *.
Anyone know what it does?

I would guess

  •  S   =  Semi-automatic
  • A/T =  Automatic transmission
  •   *   =  ?
* could indicate a winter mode.
It could be "Sports" "All Terain"
S could indicate sport mode.
How about  star = nighttime   ;)

* = loose surface/snow mode.

What this basically does is start in Auto 2nd gear rather than first for use on gravel drives or snow.

I would say that

S = Sport mode

A/T = standard automatic mode

I don't know the car personally, but the letters sound like they stand for S=sport, A/T=auto/normal and as for * i'm not sure, but a lot of auto boxes have sport, normal and snow settings.
