Traffic Jam
10 Answers
What is the longest amount of time you have spent in a traffic jam and how did it make you feel? I spent nearly 2 hours in one today, hardly moving and dying to use the bathroom! It's ok for you boys, you can use a bottle or something ;-)

Can't say what the total was because the tedium was relieved in a wonderful way. " guys got out of a van with a cricket bat and climbed the bank into a field. Eventually there were around 15 of us playing cricket while our vehicles sat parked on the motorway.

7 hours. The snow was up to the roofs of the cars. Ice was forming in my eyes and ears, so I couldn't see a thing. People had their heads covered against the weather. I grumbled to someone about my boss, then found I was talking to him. He knew me from the vehicle I was using. Not my best day, but probably my longest.
Looking at other answers, I got off lightly. I spent four hours on the M1 waiting to go just four junctions along. It was covered in black ice. Some guys in a van rolled their window down and started singing. They even asked if anyone had any requests! I think if I had been busting to go, I would have done what others did and crept off into the woods either side of the motorway.
10:40am to 3:50am (I make that 17hrs 10mins) waiting in a queue of trucks for a ferry in Zeebrugge(the queue started 8km from the docks), as those nice French people had blockaded the French ports and the tunnel was still out due to the fire in it. Then there was the border crossing from Hungary into Austria; 5:30pm to 9:30am, a mere 16 hours!!
About 11hrs!! It was Easter a few years back and the M40 flooded because of heavy rain - I eventually made it to the services only to be greeted with no fuel (electrics had shorted because of the floods) and the services/garage had NO food, NONE whatsoever. Does anyone remember this? Was anyone in it? Just remembered I have several Easter eggs in the car for family gifts of which I ate and felt sick for most of the 11 hrs - ha!!
