Is it a write-off and if so did you tell them?
A write off, what happened.?
Question Author
i was unaware it was a write off until he told me and asked for more money
do you have the new car and is the V5 at the DVLA in your name?
I meant the V5 for the new car
Question Author
No i only swapped it 2 days ago and im not sure if hes sent it to the dvla swansea yet
surely they cant if all paperwork is signed and your details have been sent to dvla, sounds a bit dodgy to me
Question Author
not sure if its been sent to the dvla yet but its all beeen signed dont wanna get on the phone and tell them they carnt do that if they actually can
So you bought a really cheap car, without checking its status, in order to get some money off a car you actually want. In answer to your question as to whether they can cancel the sale - answer is probably yes. Read the small print of whatever it was that you signed.
do you have the green slip from the V5?
Question Author
No i bought a car 3 months ago without checking its status and due to insure had to get rid of it so decided to swap it for a car in a lower catergory insurance group i didnt no the car was wrote off
Question Author
i have the slip for the car i swapped his for but he has the slip for the car i bought but i do have a reciept for the car i bought
Well without proof of ownership of the car you've bought I'm not sure of your position. Might be worth asking the local police?
Question Author
i do have a reciept for the vechile is that worth anything?
The V5 Registration is not proof that the vehicle belongs to anyone, The receipt for the vehicle is proof of ownership, As you say you have then it is yours.
i actually worked for a dealership where a car had been traded that had been poorly repaired we actually went and seized the sold vehicle back cancelled the sale and gave him the pile of c**p trade in back.
what you have to remember is the sales guy who does the appraisal is not a qualified mechanic or bodywork/chassis expert..hes a 'salesman'.
The log book for the car you swapped had it not got a category on it IE cat 1,2 or 3 on it indicating that it had been damaged and then repaired ?
They would of done an HPi check but just because its not on there it doesnt mean it hasnt been a write off, it may only come to light when the vehicle is looked at closer
sounds like you got shafted the 1st time around...
Yep, looks like it to me Chas.
