My mum has oil central heating, with a oil tank at the side of the house. Things keep going wrong with it now mum is on her own - no hot water mostly. Who would you call in to service oil central heating - it is a very old system installed by my dad, who is no longer around.
Do people still have oil central heating ? Or is it mainly gas now ?
Word of mouth is best, do any of the neighbours have oil as well? Oil is quite common where I live as there is no gas in the village, and we find it a cost effective form of heating, but it is important to have oil boilers serviced annually.
I have oil heating, so does everyone else in my road, its still quite common, and an efficient system is cheaper to run than gas. Service wise, theres not much to go wrong, but if the boiler is ancient, a new one is a fortune, so if there was natural gas in the road it would be cheaper to convert, and, if your mother is on Her own She may qualify for a grant to upgrade.
Yeah, annual servicing is essential really. Their boiler service is worth taking a look at: http://www.heatingoil.co.uk/boiler-servicing Let us know how it works out for you :)
About 1.5 million people in the UK use heating oil. This is mainly in rural areas where homes are not connected to the national gas network. For more info on heating oil, visit https://www.rix.co.uk/heating-oil-prices/
