My Grandson wants me to take him to the car auctions, he is after a group 1 for insurance but I don't know what I'm looking for, he has £1000 so can anybody recommend a car I should be looking for, he doesn't care what sort as long as he gets one but I do.
don't go for anything specific. Walk around all the group 1 cars, take a list, decide which ones are possibilities and likely to be in price range then buy one that fits the bill. Sorry it's all a bit reactive at auctions especially when you are not there for a specific car.
Make allowances for the service charges at the auction when working out your price limits. For private buyers they have gone up dramatically over the past few years making auctions less attractive to me.
Find out what the service charge is before you bid. Buyer beware.
I am not trying to alarm you Jrtv, auctions! that's where cars go when they are buggered, Myself, I would look at your local paper at least with that, you can go, see, try, walk away, I have heard of people going to the auctions & regretted, but that is obviously up to yourself.
