no to which part, nothing to worry about or is this normal, ha. also i did disconnect it while it was running and the car idled very bad, does this suggest it still works?
Top, I must admit you're a bugger for playing about with your car mate, what made you take off I.C.V? I thought after your post a few weeks ago your problems had be cured! If the ICV appears to be faulty replace it with a guaranteed one, you can pick one up for about £30, I would then after fitting the new inspect the old ICV taking pics as you remove parts just in case you forget where the parts go ( We have all done it) clean then resell on eBay stating that the part has NOT BEEN TESTED, by going that way you re-coupe your money, I done this on mine with a replacement window winder, & may I add just in case I get called, the part that I re-conditioned & working well, it sold what I'd paid for the replacement.
Yes, its still woking ok, but there should be no rattle.

the big problems were gone, i stil had the problem of car cutting out though, so cleaned icv with carb cleaner, then it started to rattle, seems really loose, ane the car idle was above 1k rpm, and when im driving it takes too long for revs to drop when changing gear
Air getting into the system, check the ICV pipes for hair line splits / perished Tops.
Question Author
what was strange was before i put boot on it idled fine, there doesnt appear to be any vacuum leaks either
The pipe that goes to the ICV can suffer with hair line cracks that are hard to distinguish tops, as you look at the pipe it seems as if the pipe is showing it's age, I'm sure the pipe is pores ( Very fine cracks) replace the pipe.
Question Author
i prob should have mentioned pipe to icv is new
The body of the ICV ( Alloy) is it a perfect fit? have you undone the body for some reason? is it cracked?
Question Author
i am not sure what you mean by that, the undone body bit, i didnt see any cracks, it should be perfect fit as its the original, i sealed the carb cleaner in, and shook it, wich built up some presure inside,
Did you undo the complete pipe? there should be 2 Jubilee Clips holding this in place!

what was strange was before i put boot on it idled fine,

You have either not tighten up one clip & its drawing air or you have not made sure the Pipe is completly on. check it, the problem is there.
Question Author
i made sure they were tight and on correctly, i had the disa valve off for ful view, what way is the movement in the icv meant to be
Never had one off Top but it seems that's where your problem lies, Google the ICV & see what comes up.
