I would not trust any main dealer. I use a small family business recommended by a friend and they are great.

Yes presumably or why would you take it there, I wouldn't... plenty of other garages.
yes
If my car goes to a garage... yes I can trust them. But this is the garage that done my tracking (perfectly) for free when I popped in and when one of my cars needed a bush replaced on the rear suspension for it's MOT I said I'd do it myself, their reply was "you need a special tool to do it" and then the owner went to his toolbox, pulled out the "special tool" and handed it to me saying "bring it back when you come for the retest"
Yes.

When I bought my car the MOT had an advisory. When I took it for an MOT myself the only thing it failed on was the previous advisory. They added their own advisory on that MOT and the same happened the next time I MOT's it.

The management light recently came on and it threw up one problem.
no, you just have to find out which garage will rip you off least. A ouija board might be useful so you can ask deceased customers.
Yes, I trust them. Been using them for years. The father used to run the business and has trained his son well, both as a mechanic and a customer liaison guy.
Find a garage you can trust and stay with them.
"Find a garage you can trust and stay with them."

Precisely.. If I do use a garage it's the one that's been doing my families cars for years... If they did rip off any one of us they'd lose the repeat business from all of us.

That said, it's rare I use a garage, there's not much I can't do myself and it's normally down to time restraints if my car goes to a garage.

Good answers as yet.
not my nearest local independent garage, no. They are robbers of the highest order. However a few miles further away another independent garage I use I have found to be okay.

What's in a "full service" seems to vary quite interstingly

From here where even the condition of the radiator cap is being checked
http://carservicing.s....co.uk/whats-included

To our favourite pepole here
http://www.kwik-fit.c...ded-in-my-service.asp

Who's full service doesn't seem a lot more than what would be in an MOT and some basic checks

If you're going to a main dealer or a brand specialist you'd expect it to be carried out as per the manufacturer's specification.

My point is if you don't know what you're asking for how do you know if it's been done.

It's a bit like going into a shop and asking for a "whatsit" and coming out with a unidentifiable object in a box!
We travel about 12 miles for our local garage, been using them for years, ( before we moved to where we are now) never had a problem with them in 25 + years.
