Another £2/£5 toll for cars/lorries using the Blackwall tunnel. Won't this encourage more use of the Rotherhithe Tunnel?

Depending on which direction you're coming from and going to using the Rotherhithe tunnel could add about 12 miles onto the journey, so it would cost you the extra money in fuel anyhow.
I would rather pay a toll so that they can properly maintain it than have it flood one day....
I can't imagine where they would put the toll booths.
We pay road fund duty annually, there should be no tolls asking folk to pay a second time to use selected parts of the national road network. Costs are already covered many times over.
Another case of " The fools will pay" Except it! they know you will do nothing about it.
A Highways Agency guy (privately) told me that they were actively looking at introducing a camera to pay system, like the congestion charge ones, at tunnels and crosssings of the Thames. So Dartford will then dispense with the traffic congesting booths and the Rother and Blackwall would be chargable. All to happen at the same time around mid 2013.
God I must be tired - I thought the Q said TOILETS proposed for Blackwall tunnel!!
2013 Paul - they had better get a move on.

This article suggests 2021.

The system sounds better, as the congestion caused by tolls at Dartford is ridiculous. (Mind you, without the tolls, traffic would come off the bridge at a hell of a rate)
On this evenings news item. Mid 2014, good to go apparently. We'll see I have no doubt.
