Car spin

If you car is hit from behind and goes into a spin which way should you steer? I.e. car went into a clockwise spin - should I turn steering wheel to the right (into the soin) or left (away from the spin). My instinct is the latter. Thanks.

Control is getting the car back under control when a slide happens
Pause is waiting for the loading on the suspension to take on a set position.
Recovery is getting everything straight and settled again so the car can continue in the direction you want.
Although to be honest... if you're hit from behind the chances are you're just going to be along for the ride and little you can do will change anything.

Chuck's right. If you are hit from behind, you become a passenger.
However if you are sitting waiting to turn right, don't turn your wheels to the right until you move off. Keep them pointing down the road.
If you are rear ended with your wheels pointing right, you will be pushed to the right and into oncoming traffic.
