Should motorists be charged for using existing toll free roads?
http:// search. mywebse ...5g%3 D%3D&or d=4&ct= AR&
Surely nobody would object to paying a toll on newly built roads but do you believe they should be levied on existing trunk roads which in the past have been toll free?

Only yesterday I thought why should I pay the £2 toll over the Dartford crossing and so used an alternative. The whole point about tolls is if people want to pay them its their choice but providing there is a decent alternative they can do as they please.
Pdj, as said, I used to drive HGVs the company had at least 600 Units in their fleet, the drv tanks held approx 200 galls, that unit would use that on one trip & at times had to be topped up, the road tax for the unit was in excess of £3000(at that time) add that up on a daily basis to see what the cost comes to, oh & by the way, the units use to do about 7>>8 mpg. putting tolls on new road would put the country in one hell of a state, you think things are expensive now? every possible item you use / drink / eat / drive/ bog roll / wear / holidays / heat /sail / would go up in price, & you talk about,
