Just had the first 1,000 mile service on my car two days ago and now there are 4 large oils spots on the floor of the garage.

Does this indicate anything serious or is it common after an oil change?

No jokes about Ibuprofen please.

It's probably coming from the sump plug sqad, maybe hasn't been tightened up enough or the mechanic didn't use a new sump plug washer after changing the oil.

tony....fabulous ...thanks....I will take it back tomorrow.
Or possibly the filter hasn't been tightened properly, best get it checked ASAP.
No, you shouldn't have any oil spots on the floor, unless they made a codsup on changing the filter and spilt some of the oil. Take it back and have a moan. Tell 'em you want your floor cleaned!!!
Yes take it back sqad.

LOL....many thanks folks......
please excuse my ignorance but was this a new car, (first 1000ml service)
The reason i ask is i got a new car on oct' and my dad got one several months earlier and we were both told to follow the instuction's in the sevice book's which are both 1 year or 20,000mls for the first service,my car in a vauxhall,my dad's is a renault, does it just depend on the manufacturer?
Yes it does david21, different manufacturers have different service schedules.
The garage should Clean, & check the car before the car leaves the area of oil change to make sure all is well & no oil loss, they should also have cleaned the oil filter area with a rag as that's the area where, depending on the type of filter, you get oil splashes.
I hope they haven't cross threaded the sump plug.

Thanks folks.....I am taking it back tomorrow.
Are you sure the oil is from the car? I thought Rolls Royce's ran on Châteauneuf-du-Pape ;-p
You could just get under the front of the car and wipe your finger around the oil drain plug. Any sign of oil on your finger would mean it should be returned.
