Baldric, I've have 2 of theses cars, been in snow / ice on many occasions & never ever had trouble, as you & Tony has said, to much pedal, & driven properly, at least we have one thing in common Baldric.
Baldric -neither do I.
In snow, you need to be in the highest gear possible for the speed at which you are travelling.
Incidentally, I used to drive a 5-series BMW - no problem at all in snow, IF you modify your driving style to suit.
Imagine there are eggs on top of your brake and accelerator pedals, and drive so you are never in a situation where you would press hard enough to brake them.
as a bodyshop some of the first cars we get in are 4 wheel drives (many rolled), the owners get too cocky and think they are bombproof.....which they are not. You can just as easily lose a 4WD in the ice/snow as any other vehicle if not driven correctly.
4x4's are great when being driven forward, but the minute you lift off the throttle and brake they behave exactly like a normal car, which a lot of people just don't realise.
i can see you guys like your BMWs, but i have seen so many holdups and been out to recoverys where a BMW/MERC is just sitting across the road with the wheels spinning going no where and all the front wheel drive vehicles happily driving around them.
