They will send you a notice of renewal for road tax before the expiry date, together with mot and insurance, thats it. You dont need a log book to renew your road tax.

I look after the road fund licences for  a fleet of vehicles and every month the reminders flood in, but every month some are missing. Last time my car registered at home address did not deem worthy of a reminder. So you take the log book and other stuff to the post office and hey presto. However, if you change owners, or have the wrong style or no log book and have no reminder and need the tax straight away you pop along to the local vehicle taxation office near you and get it all done over the counter.

If you have sent your stuff to them, but need the disc now then pop along to see them, although by the time you get there they may well have sent it to you in the post. In any event, if you can show who you are, give details of the vehicle and they confirm that the vehicle is registered to you then you should be able to get a tax disc in person if they have mislaid the one they say they have sent to you.
