I am due to change my car this year. I've never had a Toyota before, but I've read that they are 'bulletproof', 'ultra-reliable' etc. What are your experiences of Toyota? Would you recommend them?

In the main, Toyota like the other main Jap cars are pretty good and reliable, can you give us the specific model?
I've got a Yaris, great little car.
I love my Land Cruiser.

It never ever ever ever goes wrong.

It's a total work horse.

So ... Yes!
I've got a Rav4 and I love it, had it from new last november. The service at the where I bought it was first class and the after sales service has been excellent.
Apart from the odd few million recalls they are bulletproof. ;-)
I'm on my 3rd Celica. Can't fault Toyota for reliability.
can't go wrong..ive got a toyota starlet.14yrs old.like new.
But you'll notice with recalls that it's always things thar "could" cause problems ... but never actually have.

Electric window switches that "could" cause a fire ... but never have.

A "possible" problem with the brakes ... but not really a problem at all.

Etc ...

Car manufacturers do recalls every now and then to remind their customers that they are still looking after them, even when their car is a few year sold.

Most recalls are totally unnecessary. It's a marketing ploy.

Remind me again JJ, what do you use it for?
After years of having a classic Mini Cooper, and being upset at having to get rid of it, I bought a Yaris and I absolutely love it.
Going to the shops.
She rides it as a horse to work. ;)
There's no such thing as bad publicity, baldric.
Yes. I've had 2 Ravs and a Corolla and would recommend.

Seriously? Recalls are a safeguard and maybe overkill and possibly unnecessary but are most certainly not good for business.

Take Tesco burgers for example. Many have been recalled and somehow I doubt that sales have gone up.

They are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger

Toyatal Recall
Toyotal Recall

even.
I hope there's a recall soon, so I can use that gag at the dealers.
Toyatal and Toyotal - almost Twins
