Am I correct that China drives on the right, but Hong Kong on the left?

It must be confusing at the border.

I read somewhere that in Ireland next sunday buses and lorries will drive on the right, if successful then cars and vans suit the following week.
Here's their answer to the crossover...

Heathfield, that's excellent.

However I think reading the article, that it wasn't built.

I wonder if one day the big beasts in Beijing will insist that HK switches sides.
Actually Hopkirk, the Chinese are the worst drivers I've ever experienced, the rule is that they should drive on the right, but in reality, they drive exactly where they want to, and expect others to get out of their way.

You've never been to India then.
No, I haven't, can they be worse than the Chinese?
Here's a bit of official info about driving in Hong Kong:

To be fair, if you look at the pedestrians in that clip, I think it is speeded up a little for effect.

Thanks for the link bookbinder.

I note they don't normally allow left hand drive vehicles to be registered in HK, so perhaps they restrict the number of vehicles crossing the border.
Correct, Hopkirk.

The railway gauge on the Trans Siberian also changes at the Mongolian border, a place called Erenhot, and that causes even more issues with freight.

It is those countries with American influence that drive on the left out there as well, namely Korea, Philippines, Guam, Vietnam - all the rest are on the proper side.
And I would put China ahead of India for road lunacy.....plus Botswana

Nigeria and Egypt in the second division, along with Thailand.

Thailand seemed OK to me.

To be fair though, the traffic doesn't move very fast in Bangkok.
lol, like it, on the proper side :-D

There was a joke going round several decades ago about a country changing over from driving on the right to the left but doing it slowly.

Do we drive on the left in the UK?
You could always drive down the middle of the road.
Take your point Hopkirk, although the motor cyclists remind me of the 'organ donors' who circle the périphérique around Paris!
Question Author
I've seen the great big roundabout around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and I don't fancy driving there.
The trick in Paris, Hopkirk, is to drive to the front of your car and don't worry about the sides or rear; it's their duty to stop. Somebody said to buy a 504 and weld I bars on the front and rear bumpers - helps with the parking!
Looks like the M1/25/62, on a Frid Night Hop, lol
