Royal Mail servicing.

My part time work for a local authority requires me to visit local businesses for Health & Safety purposes. This week I went to a local Royal Mail vehicle maintenance depot and was told by the Service Manager that as part of their new diversification policy their workshops are open to the public. A vehicle's details are put into a system called Auto-something which then gives full servicing schedules from the manufacturer. Charges are based on local rate average, excluding main dealers, and in this particular case was �38 per hour plus VAT. The workshop was immaculate - as one would expect. I will give them a try, but has anyone else heard of this and given it a go ?

�38 per hour = VAT, ie �44.65 per hour. What a rip off!

Gef, it may seem a rip off if you live in rural Devon, but in London it could be quite reasonable. The case in question is on London/Kent border. Anyone know what typical hourly rates are ?

I'm an ex royalmail vehicle technician and can asure you that any work you have done by a royalmail workshop will be of far superior quality of even the main dealers. The thing is when i was there we were never pressured into finishing jobs quickly so spent more time doing them right
