What Can Your Dog/cat Do?

We have just come in from shopping, Isla (belgian shepherd dog) has managed to take off the candlewick bedspread we keep on the sofa - UNDER another cover which is tied down to the sofa, without untying any of the top covers! How (and why?) she has managed to do this I do not know! Her nose is a bit out of joint, as she is missing a cat that actually belonged to some neighbours, but popped in to see us every day. The neighbours appear to have moved on, so presumably have taken the cat too. He and Isla got on very well, played together, and would sleep on the sofa together sometimes. We will miss him. But I've obviously got to find something to occupy her mind a bit more.

We already have our own cat, who is an elderly semi feral, very moody little thing, and Isla is scared stiff of her - but when she has gone we thought that we'd get a cat to rehome, rather than having a kitten - I've always fancied a Maine Coon, after looking after two for a client a while back, but I shouldn't think that there are many up for adoption. Anyway, we must wait till the little cat passes on.

What a clever dog you have. My cat can tell the time. At 7pm on the dot she will appear, sit in front of me and stare untill she gets her dinner.
We tried to ignore her to see what she would do next, she so worked out that if she jumped on and off my lap and kept repeating this that I'd give in.

She also has a way of getting us to follow her so she can show us what she wants, abit like the lassy dog on T.V but with out the barking ha ha.

My daughter had a pony that could slide the bolt and let herself out of her stable then she would go around and let the other horses out as well.

My dog Toby, has a "thing for socks, especially my daughter's small running socks. He sicked up two in the garden late last night. When he was let out this morning, he went over to them and ate one of them, Again.

My cat can collect up fur until it forms a decent lump, them regurgitate it at inopportune moments.

One of my friends is a Belgian Shepherd and he is much cleverer than I am. My terrier is a one trick dog and he loves playing sit and stay in public places where he can get most praise. Otherwise he is an amiable thicko.

Zac is a border collie. He has a few different balls ( no sniggering!) and knows each one by name ( ball with a string, drive ball, spikey ball) if we set off on a walk and I realise he's got the wrong one, I can say 'go get your proper ball' and he'll fly home and get the right one. He also knows 'cross' for cross the road, 'path' if he happens to be on our pavement less road and a car comes he'll go onto the grass verge 'shake' if I've washed him off and he needs to shake before going in the house. 'Turn round' for when I need to dry his paws.
