Quite An Achievement In 5 Months.....
News0 min ago
regarding my last enquiry, I didn't make it clear. What I want is an image of a labrador on the number plate on the appropriate legal background. I have seen sharks and Smirnoff etc. and I was wondering if anyone knew of a manufacturer that could supply me with the labrador image.
Thanks

The law states that:
You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers.
Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g. A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).
Offences may result in any or all of the following:
A fine of up to 1,000
The registration mark may be WITHDRAWN
The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test
The British Standard sets out the physical characteristics on the number plate. This includes:
Visibility
Strength
Reflectivity
The British Standard also requires that a number plate must be marked with the following information:
The British Standard Number (BSAU 145d)
The name, trade mark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier.
The name and postcode of the supplying outlet.
A non-reflective border and the Euro-symbol with the national identification letters are OPTIONAL ADDITIONS.
There shall be no other markings or material contained on the number plate.
As regards to the answers about legality, they seem to be right. However, if the letters/numbers are not obscured or mis-represented (i.e an A for a 4 an S for a 5 etc) the local fuzz really do not mind. That is unless they are complete traffic bores. The chances are you will recieve (at most) a form called VDRS, vehicle defect retification scheme. This means you will just have to "legalise" the plate and get an MOT stamp, not a full MOT.
I am confident a picture of a nice dog will not in anyway make you a hot stop for the local bobbies!!!!
Sometimes a number plate can be easier to remember when the letters/numbers have been placed differently, but they should not be altered to look different by using number plate bolts, etc. Surely V1PER is easier to remember that V 1 PER and M4D JO will be easier than M 4 DJO to remember. You can buy "show plates" for OFF ROAD USE on the internet (just search google.. show plates).. You don't have to produce any documentation for them.
