Changing Paper License To Photo

Has anyone any idea how long this takes? In order to attend a speed awareness course I need photo ID - and as I don't have a passport (I'm British, born in England, have never needed one) I've applied to have my paper license changed to a photo card. I'm booked in for my course at the end of November and am hoping it comes through before then :(

they say three weeks so you should be okay. Do you have any other photo ID that might do? Work security card etc?

Thanks jno - no, no other photo ID - apart from a museum card, doubt if that would do.
