My view is that it depends on your mileage, the type of car and the speed you travel at. I wouldn't risk them on my Alfa GT.

To me it depends on the size of car and how fast you drive, when I had a old mini and just drove to the shops I used budget tyres and all was well but now I have a 2.5 ltr Mondeo and use it on the motorway only the best will do.

If I were hard up, then yes. As long as they were all 'e' marked, no problem.

Wouldn't mix the makes though.

You get what you pay for, Bazile. With budget tyres the grip ( especially in the wet ) won't be as good as a mid or premium range tyre and your braking distance won't be as good either.

That's not necessarily so. Some budget tyres have A or B grip ratings, while some full-price ones don't. Now that all new tyres have to be labelled to indicate fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise levels it's far easier to decide whether it's worth paying the extra (if you can afford to do so) for more expensive tyres:

Bazile, there's a few things you should think about here, will they work out CHEAP? In an accident, Winter is approaching, Ice / Snow / Grip, just think about that, do you have a family? think about them & what could happen, I am not rich by any means just like the rest of us on here I'm sure, If you can afford, go for a Known make, there are plenty to choose from at a decent price,there are tyres coming on to the Market now from the Far East, so beware, ask advice before you purchase, if you see or hear about a particular make google it.

I bought some cheap budget tyres once.

Never again.

It felt a bit vague when cornering in the wet.

God forbid I had to do an emergerncy stop.

Only a few years ago Hankook were thought of as second rate budget tyres. Now they're being fitted as new to some fords and no doubt other makes.

Some cheap tyres from the east are tropical spec. tyres and do not give very good grip in the cold.
