The engine management system in your car handles at what rpm your car should rev at when your foot isn't on the accelerator (e.g. Changing gear, sitting at traffic lights etc). As they are all computer controlled then it would be a case of taking to a garage to get looked at. But then again, could be something totally different like your accelerator pedal not returning to the normal position due to a sticking cable or something. Cars, huh? always a worry when they go wrong...
just to update you, there is a known fault on the throttle position sensor and it's wiring harness. it's the subject of a recall on certain build dates. check it at www.honestjohn.co.uk
