Is it reasonable for a dealer to sell a car with only one key - i.e. no spare ?

Can you also go to somewhere like Timpson's ( as boxtops mentioned
in post )and get a key cut that will allow you to manually open the car doors / start engine (and in this case the only thing that you would not be able to do is obviously use it remotely?) - is that what is meant
by emmergency key in , methyl's post ?
I know this is going on a bit , but it's adding to the mountain of information that someone can look up in the future on answerbank

Bazile, have a look at this ebay add, the keys that they are selling will lock and unlock the car ( after programing ) but without the chip it won't start the car.
