Do bikers have a death wish - is it really that important to save a few seconds by for example , swerving in and out of traffic or coming up in the driver's blind spot ?

Case in point - just been waiting at a junction in a left turning lane - just happen to notice a biker positioning himself on my nearside/blind spot .

If i hadn't seen him i could easily have pulled away, turning left , and colliding with him/her .

I don't think it is anything to do with "saving a few seconds".

They just want to go fast, and many of them go so fast and drive so badly they finish up killing themselves (and sometimes other people).

There was the idiot who was driving at 97 mph the other week who crashed into the side of a car that was turning into a side road in front of him. The bike was going so fast the car driver did not see him.

There has been comments regards these Bikers, I'm not say they like car drivers are all the same but some of these clowns deserve all they get, if they get killed going like Idiots, that's their problem, but as said, at times it involves other innocent person & that person's life is then destroyed for the rest of his / her life, there are many Traffic light cameras on Junctions, I'm sure these idiots can be detected ( Under taking) if they come up on your inside at Junctions or Traffic lights that's exactly what they are doing, if seen & cause an accident their licence should be endorsed & a heavy fined, that includes the car driver if he / she causes an accident.

Difficult......very difficult and dangerous situation.
The lorry is to turn left and the biker is to go straight on.

The lorry may not signal a left turn...........
If the lorry does signal a left turn, the rear flashing indicator cannot be seen by the biker and the front indicator may also be hidden from the biker.

The only answer is vigilance by both parties.

Perhaps if you had been indicating a left turn he would have noticed. Bikers are far more aware of their surroundings than other drivers and they don't have blind spots. One of the advantages of riding faster than everybody else is that all your hazards are in front of you where you can see them.

jomifl.........the driver of the lorry would be on the offside of the cabin and the biker would be way to the lorry drivers left and probably below the vision of the lorry driver, almost impossible to see the biker's indicators.

gsr, you referring to that car pulling across the front of the biker! if the biker would have been travelling at the correct speed instead of 97mph, that accident would not have happened.

Unless I'm mistaken you do not require to indicate left in a marked left exit on a roundabout; and I'm a biker. As a biker you always ensure you're on the offside of the vehicle to or in front of you. If you're turning left you make sure you are in front - no exceptions. From a bikers perspective I can honestly say I've never done or seen anyone undertake on the near side of a traffic roundabout - you must be special :)

i have scratches and a broken wing mirror thanks to an idiot on a motorbike who thought he could overtake on my inside when there was a parked car in his way. I pulled over but the idiot sped off so i am left with a hefty bill for respray and new wing mirror.
