That is low mileage. Add that to cost of Insurance, Servicing etc and it would be cheaper to go by taxi.

haha you are complaining about 300 i have to pay 1,500 a year over here in ireland
What are you driving, top_driver?
My hubby's new (used, new to him) monster mid life crisis vehicle is costing us £500 a year!
bmw 330ci
cc cost
1901 - 2000 710
2001 - 2100 906
2101 - 2200 951
2201 - 2300 994
2301 - 2400 1034
2401 - 2500 1080
2501 - 2600 1294
2601 - 2700 1345
2701 - 2800 1391
2801 - 2900 1443
2901 - 3000 1494
Taxi's charge around £3 a mile with a minimum charge of £3.50, so it is not cheaper.
top_diver, you makes yer choice and you pays yer money.

You could make massive savings if you really objected to paying that much
the irish are useless at objecting. they are like ye grand. and when no one is around start complaining that why the government get away with so much over here.
