That is low mileage. Add that to cost of Insurance, Servicing etc and it would be cheaper to go by taxi.

Yes hc, what is road tax? VED is the cost of having the right to use your vehicle on public roads. Subsequent usage thereof is not compulsory. So "fair" or not does not come into it. It's like saying I pay £25k a year in NI and I also pay for prescriptions and I've been to hospital twice in 12 years, fair? I would not ask the question normally because I know the 2 things are not related.
