Any opinions on wether this causes early battery or starter motor failure. I personally think it's ok but a friend has it switched off to save battery and starter motor?

I have this on my Ford B-Max. I assume that Ford have given this some thought, and that they have designed the car electrics to be able to cope with the Stop-Start facility. So, I just carry on using the facility.
It has been around for a good few years now, I have not heard of any problems so I think it is fine.

Don't want it, would disable it if fitted. I'm sure starter motors and batteries have been beefed up to cope, nbut I just don't want it!
It's easy enough to switch off, if you don't want it, but you have to do that every time you start the engine. When you switch off the ignition at the end of a run, the Stop-Start switches itself off. When you start the engine for the next journey, the Stop-Start switches itself on again, so, if you don't want it on at all, you have to remember to press the 'A off' button every time that you start up.
My car has stop-start and it's behaved perfectly...the battery, starter and associated electrics are all heavy-duty especially for the stop-start version. I leave it on all the time....but don't spend a lot of time in traffic queues.
I also have laser-controlled emergency-braking and leave that on too!

Thanks for your comments. I also would have to switch it off every time on my VW Touran. I believe on my friends Audi Q7 it can be switched off permanently.
I had it on a hire car once and hated it, in fact it's a bit dangerous if you don't know how it behaves as I found out more than once when queuing.
had it on a courtesy car..hated it !
no need for it, I doubt is saves any fuel anyway. I'd turn it off permanently.
