My lovely car was first registered on 01/09/01 and I bought it in April of last year.I was most upset to find severe bubbling on one of the wings and went back to the Dixon/Renault garage that I had bought it from.Of course I was told the warranty had expired and there was nothing they could do.(yes...  silly me for not remembering to renew it)They even asked if the car had been in an accident to which I replied not whilst I had had it.They said the only thing to do was try the Peugot garage itself BUT they doubted as to whether it would do any good. I bought the newest car that I could afford for several reasons .I live on my own and don't have endless funds for repairs such as this.Also I'm not sure where to start.Can any one give some proper advice please.I just don't think a car as new as this should be starting to rust. Do you?????

I would expect that a 4 year old Peugeot would have started to rust somewhere by now, but severe bubbling on one of the wings is a bit much.  Its unlucky that you have found one with an imperfect paint job on the wing (these are the perils of buying inferior cars).  There's not much you can do except have it treated.  The cheapest thing to do is treat it yourself.

Remember, the sooner you do it, the cheaper the cost of the repair.  It is an easy thing to do but most people shy away from it because they think that they won't be able to restore the original finish.  A Haynes manual will give you simple restoration techniques.

Ignore the "inferior car" babble. Peugeot generally are pretty good, certainly for their cost, (I've had 3. 2 were superb but the last one had bad engine management problems, but never paint problems), and even much more expensive cars are not immune from problems. I'm with you, repainting major areas of car bodywork is not something for the uninitiated.

However, do check your car's handbook. Most cars carry a 6 year warranty for paint finish, (at least for anti-perforation), and I think yours probably will. I'm sure Peugeot will do their very best to avoid rectifying it at their cost but it's worth a try. However, as you bought the car 2nd hand you don't know what may have happened to it pre-you. Could have been a less-than-perfect accident repair. Read the handbook and have a go at Peugeot if it states 6 year warranty for paint etc. What's to lose ?
