For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.... although I recall an incident many years ago where a driver, having been stopped by a random police check, was found to be driving barefoot and warned by a PC that technically he could be charged with not being "in complete control of the vehicle" because you don�t have the same braking force with bare feet as you do wearing shoes. Likewise any inappropriate footwear could be deemed detrimental to the control of a vehicle.
definately NOT illegal but i would advise for safety reasons you wear shoes. When any crash occurs i cam assure you you feet will take some force. In a bad smash the steering pillion can easily collapse and bahg your feet. Further what if you have to get out unexpectedly???
Just wear shoes. Flat soled ones are best according to Advanced motorist orgs
