Our New Car.

When we consolidated our three cars and went down to two, we bought a MGZR160. I thought it was just a three door hatchback by MG. It turns out it is the car all young posers want. It has a souped up engine and makes a hell of a racket. Now at my age I do not like driving with this noise, people turn and stare at a granny or grandad driving something that makes a noise like that. In fact when OH goes off on his own into town I can hear him nearly all the way there. What can I have done to the car to make less noise. When I complain about it to OH he laughs at me. I feel embarrassed at the noise.
Help please.

You almost certainly need to change the exhaust. However you'll need to find a decent garage to advise you as to exactly what to change it to (and to give you a price).

Alternatively buy enough cotton wool to send some to every household in the Forest of Dean, together with a note of the times when you're likely to be in their area ;-)

I'm seriously thinking of taking the car to a garage and asking is there anything that can be done to quite the blasted thing.
