Childrens Tv programme in the 70's

I know this is not alot to go on but in the 70s there was an adventure serial with two boys playing the lead roles. All I can remember was that there was an item retrieved, after spending there whole series trying to find it, in a hole, behind a brick in a small bridge, they got to by boat. I think the brick had a rose motif on it, in the style of the Yorkshire/Lancashire rose. Thanks
