I have been awarded PiP after being previously on DLA, however at a lower rate which means I will lose my motability car. I have been awarded 10 points for my conditions but the score needed was 12, the reason being they say I am able to find my way around (nothing could be further from the truth !)
I have no idea how to word the appeal letter, has anyone got any ideas/examples for me pls ? TIA

This extremely detailed booklet is produced by Advice Now, which is part of the charity Law for Life. Pages 33 to 35 cover exactly what you need to know:

Yes definitely use the CAB ,they have specialist advisors who do this all the time and for free. They will do the entire appeal for you.
They know exactly how to word the letter and know the system better than the benefit agency themselves. We had to appeal a refused DLA award, we did it twice ourselves and were turned down. A CAB advisor then did it and we got the entire amount claimed ,paid in just 5 days and backdated 6 months.
If you haven't already done so, would your GP write a letter of support outlining why you cannot find your way around.
If you don't have a CAB office near you look in the telephone directory for welfare rights. They are a good alternative.
This site might help too.

Join the forum and post your question there. The members are absolutely fantastic and will tell you exactly what you need to do. Rest assured, someone there will have been in your position and will have successfully appealed against it. Take their advice on how to go about it.

The site has a whole library of template letters for you to use when making your appeal. The guys will point you in the direction of the most appropriate template, but you will have to join the forum to access the library.
My son has asked for Mandatory Reassesment and was still refused. Now he has asked Welfare Rights to take the case to Tribunal. We are told it can take 10 to 12 months. Meanwhile he has to manage without his benefit. W/W told him not to apply to Universal Credit to tide him over. Once you go on to that you cant go back on to other benefits. This is a very poor way to treat people with severe Mental Health conditions.
