I have a 2002 model diesel I haven't had it long but I notice sometimes when I accelerate for instance going uphill or even on a flat road, it seems to pull back/lose power then pick up speed again.. any ideas?

It used to be, probably still is, useful to squirt extra fuel when accelerating, specifically to avoid a "flat spot". It could be that you have a problem with a sensor that detects the accelerator movement. This is only speculation on my part; maybe someone with more knowledge will see your question.
Could be turbo lag.
Good thinking melv. I've had two turbo diesels; the first was perfectly OK, the second had distinct turbo lag. I had the second one chipped and the turbo lag disappeared. If this car is new to fruitsalad it could well be the cause of the problem.

I have just seen on a picasso forum something about a them having a speed limiter
My first thought is .. simple things first before you start talking turbos. Personally I would check the air filter.
A diesel that cant breathe is an engine that is being choked. The filter is cheap enough and should be replaced if in doubt. While you are at it change the fuel filter as well. The fact you state that 'even on a flat road' you loose power would see me checking these two items before I do anything else.
By the way .. how many miles are on it .. and has it been serviced regularly ?
alavahalf- we're not talking about a faulty turbo, just a "feature" of that particular model.
