Sorry, there was no where else to put this question, but does anyone know why there is lots of stones between and all around train tracks?

It's to distribute the load to stop the rails sinking into the soil below the track. A train might weight 200 tonnes, with several tonnes on each axle. Imagine how much more difficult it would be to cut cheese if you put a cloth under the blade. Pressure = Force / Area
