It could be the fuel pump.

How old is the car? How many miles has it done?

does it turn over?

making any noises?

more than likely if the engine is turning over fine and the glow plugs are working correctly, then problem will be something to do with the diesel pump (there is usually a prime function a push button type thing, for if you run the tank completely dry) or the diesel injectors.

hope this helps.
A bad earth?, maybe worth removing/cleaning/refitting the earth straps.

change the fuel filter and run some injector cleaner through it the injectors on the corsas tend to carbon up really bad. leading to excessive smoke and poor starting.

Failing that look along the fuel lines from the fuel filter head i did loads of re-pipng on the combo vans we ran in my last job your fuel pump is last resort as they will be over 500
