Ok this is unclear from their site. I sold a car on 30/9, notified them on 1/10. The DD for VED went out on 1/10 as normal. They say when you do that that they will cancel the DD and handle any refunds, clearly there was not time to cancel the 1/10 DD here. The date of the sale was 30/9, I think therefore I should get a refund, they claim, within 10 days, not had it yet. the site seems to mention the notification date as rather than the sale date so will I get a refund of the months VED that has been paid since the car was sold?, thanks
If you didn't inform them until 1/10 you will not get a refund for October. You will be liable for the tax for that month, as will the buyer. The taxman gets double bubble (as he does for all vehicle sales where the vehicle does not either go into or come out of SORN status).
ok judge so it's the date you tell them not the date of the sale? Why do they ask for the date of the sale here then?
