Can anyone recommend a good sat nav system that can be used in Spain and possibly other european countries in the future. Going on a tour for three weeks next year in a hire car and would like a system I can use in mine in England and also in any car I hire. One problem my friend pointed out is that some cars no longer have a cig lighter to plug these in and if it does it may be broken. I believe you can get something to work with a lap top but I don't really want to lug a lap top around with me.

most sat navs have spainish maps installed on them allready,i would recomend one of the tom toms.
Agree with Norm.............one of the TOM TOM GO models would do. The 700 model already has whole of Western Europe maps pre-loaded. For the 300 and 500 models you can buy additional SD cards per country and just slot 'em in when you get there. They now sell whole of USA lower 48 states on CD-Rom to upload to your own SD's. I have a 300, (U.K. maps pre-loaded), and would be lost without it, (sorry, couldn't resist).
I have a Garmin Quest with all the European Countries in. I would recommend it but you cannot use post code. At work we use Tom Tom 300's not quite as good but you can use post codes.
I have the Medion from Aldi used it in Spain this year no problems at all can recommend it
