Can anyone please advise how untaxed and No MOT Cars can be removed from a Public Parking area. I have tried notifying Police, Operation Crackdown and local Council but to no avail. In fact one car has ben up on Jack's, no wheels and according to DVLA no Tax or MOT since Sept 2021 and the latest to turn up looks like it has already been scrapped because number plate has
tape over it. But I was able to read it and Tax and MOT on this ,expired Sept 2022.
If it is a private car park the police won't do anything, not will the council. The site owner will have to apply to the DVLA, pay a small fee, for the Registered Keepers details, write a letter stating the vehicle will have to be moved within 28 days.
If no response arrange a scrapper to collect
Get on to your MP if it is council property and the council is refusing to deal with it. Tell the MP you have seen youths messing with the cars and you fear they will set fire to them
Contact your local councillor and point out that, under the provisions of Section 3 of the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978, the council has a duty to remove the vehicles but, despite your representations to them so far, the council has failed to discharge that duty, as required by law.
Have just heard back from Operation Crackdown. Apparently the car is not abandoned but parked at this location and the matter is now closed. The car is still not Taxed according to DVLA website, so I shall keep an eye it. Its been there since Christmas with a ç over over it. Most annoying g when you cant find anywhere to park.
