My Peugeot 206 engine management light comes on sometimes. I have had a garage look at it they changed the plugs & leads, reset it and it still comes on. It only comes on sometimes - either on short or longer journeys (over 30miles) and the garage bills are mounting, anyone help please.

my husband says - 'what year is the peugeot?'

if the management light comes on it the car needs to go on a diagnostic fault code scanner because every time the management light comes on, it will store a fault code in the ECU.So a reputable garage with the 'right' equipment can tell you this. Note - the scanner can only read the code and point the technition to the fault then the rest is up to him. Good luck!

Changing the plugs and leads here will do no good! If the EMS light is coming on you have a sensory fault or failure somewhere, or the ECU itself is gone, but an ECU failure would result normally in a no go or poor running situation. The garage you went to are obviously quite useless, and to get the ECU 'interrogated' you don't have to go to a Peugeot dealer, just find yourself a good reputable Fuel Injection specialist, they should have all the gear and without the exorbitant main dealer rates!!

Consult an engine management specialist. Ring first and tell them what you want. There are so many sharks out there ready to hoodwink you. Be careful.
