When I go to my car in the mornings there is a small pool of oil underneath. Is this from a hole somewhere or a gasket problem? there is a lot of oil on the engine block. I'm a hopeless dizzy person can anyone advise?

Assuming certain similarities between European and U.S. cars, it could be something as innocuous as a drip from the crankcase breather vent or a seep from the oil filter cartridge. However, the first thing to do is determine if it is actually engine oil. If you have a front wheel drive car, it could be oil from the transmission or it could be anti-freeze. If it's an older car it could be a leaking oil line connection. I realize this hasn't been a whole lot of help, but the idea is to find out exactly where it's coming from first... Good luck!

Thanks very much Clanad . Will do as you suggest

Many cars leak oil and the only way to find the source is to clean all over with something like Gunk or Jizer and hose or pressure wash it off. Check after driving for a while and the source should be apparent but it can run and drip from completely different places.
If there is a lot of oil on the block my first instinct would be to check the rocker cover for tightness or new gasket.
